Vibranium, (Element Symbol: Vb) is a rare, powerful element, first discovered by Howard Stark. This substance was used in a prototype shield and later refined into a Vibranium Shield.

The Vibranium Shield, also known better as Captain America's Shield, is the first ever prototype item created with Vibranium and was specifically chosen by Captain America as his main item and weapon.

Howard Stark encrypted the atomic structure of this element inside a design of future Stark Expo area, hoping that the world would eventually use Vibranium for the greater good of mankind.
Eventually Tony Stark, while looking for a replacement for Palladium (which was poisoning his heart), stumbled upon his father's blueprints for Vibranium and used it as a viable replacement to power both his heart and the Iron Man Mark VI suit.
